We’re Bex & Chris: parents, partners, and proud creators of 5sensesKit. We’re also veterans of late-night anxiety spirals, sensory overload, with the never-ending quest to help our neurodiverse teen feel just a little safer and comfortable in the world.

Years of trial, error, and “why isn’t this working!?” moments finally led up to - 5sensesKit - which was founded from our lived experience to help alleviate sensory overload, before it implodes.

Whether you’re an overwhelmed teen, a parent just trying to keep it together, or maybe a therapist looking for effective tools -

Our mission is simple: to empower individuals trying to manage their sensory world without shame, stress, or feeling like they’re “too much.” We believe sensory needs aren’t quirks to fix, they’re part of how someone experiences and navigates the world.

Hi, I'm Bex, the creator of 5sensesKit. It's been a wild ride in our household over the last eight years as our youngest has struggled with crippling anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and sensory overload. This has forced me to take more than a few deep dives into things that might help. I've realised that we won't know exactly what is happening until our teen turns 18 or possibly older. A therapist told us to put together a sensory kit of things that help our teen, so after scouring the local shops and finding only bright, colourful fidget toys aimed at younger kids, I decided I needed to make a kit I could give my youngest. One that they can take into social situations and be low-key enough that people won't notice how uncomfortable they are. And so, 5sensesKit was created! It's a small kit with tips & tricks that have worked for us, a guide to help you through grounding techniques when you're struggling... I'm not sure about you, but the moment I get emotional everything I've learned flies right out of my head! Plus, objects that help tap into the senses: sight, smell, touch, sound, and taste, which ground you in the moment, out of your own internal struggles. This helps break the spiral enough to get you to breathe and focus on the present.

I truly hope this helps you, and I look forward to hearing some success stories and finding out if anything else works for you.
